“Often when I meet people, they‘ll say ‘I wish I‘d known you earlier.’ And I think, ‘I wish I could have helped you earlier.’”
Pauline’s approach to her work as an attorney has been shaped by her experiences as a lifelong member of New York’s vibrant and multi-faceted Chinese-speaking community. She first became interested in elder law when her grandfather suffered a stroke. He was living on Social Security and his primary asset was his home. He was asked to choose between home care services and a nursing home, both of which he would have to self-finance. Nobody told him how he could qualify for home care benefits or helped him explore other options. Pauline thought there had to be a better approach.
Much of Pauline’s work centers on helping families protect assets. When working with families, she becomes involved with multiple generations at one time, drawing on their strong familial structures to help achieve results. These families appreciate Pauline’s understanding of — and respect for — cultural conventions.
Pauline became an associate at pioneering elder law firm Freedman Fish & Grimaldi in 2001 and was made partner in 2007. In 2008, she joined with Judith D. Grimaldi to form Grimaldi & Yeung LLP.
Pauline regularly speaks at senior centers, community centers and other organizations.
In addition to English, Pauline is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. Pauline enjoys gardening, tennis, hosting poker parties for her friends & traveling.
